As part of the unique international collection of six international online scientific journals, the articles in this Special Issue reflect on the theme "Distance education and the right - or access - to education". A common set of references in the field of distance education and of its impact on access to education are collected by the articles selected by the journals (peer reviewed), as a testimony of worldwide practices and researches on the role of distance education and e-learning for accessing education.
